After 10 years in Oakland, tee shirt company Oaklandish was in dire need of a new backend eCommerce CMS and a new design. While they were in the process of simultaneously launching a new brand called there there for other cities in the US, it made complete sense to design both quite similarly, with slightly different branding. GeoIP targeting would drop visitors into their respective cities.
The challenge of Oaklandish was taking a local iconic company and instilling modern graphics and photos while keeping the integrity of the old site. The home page (above) was made with an auto-slider, a carousel that rotates between 6 popular tee shirt images, and a row of “Featured Products” that displays 5 tee shirts on people at a time, but has unlimited amount that can be displayed. This row is user-initiated with arrow buttons to see other featured products.
The category page (this is “Mens,” above) lists the products in either catalog or list view and has new photos on models, which is an improvement of merely “flat” images on the old site. Clicking these images takes you to the…
product page. Here you can rollover the thumbnails on the left to get alternate views, read a short bio and order (or add to the wishlist), share through various social networking sites or scroll down to read the history of the shirt and see related products.
