After getting the assignment to design a mark for le Chateau Cinq, I had to brainstorm. First came sketches, which led themselves to a bunch of pseudo-designed graphics on the computer:
While I loved the upper right placemat them, the bottom left “Parisian street sign” and the ultra modern blue circle, the client thought the C5 with the accent made it seem a bit modern while using the accent to convey something European, timeless, classic.
But it needed work. So I rolled it to its side, added the type, and some web 2.0 shinyness and this is where it ended up:
Then came the corporate ID. The challenge was to make a simple menu that could be printed daily for each day’s specials, while holding in the family of the envelope, cards, letterhead, and survey card. They would be printed two-color on French Paper:
